peanut's first appearance
this morning, ian and i went to our first sonogram appointment. the doctor's office was really nice and overall was a great experience.
i don't think either of us expected to see the baby right away, but there peanut was, jumping around and moving little arms and legs. of course, it's our child, so there was a bit of an issue with it paying attention and we had to have two sonograms until it finally moved in the right spot so that they could measure the back of the neck for the screening.
baby is healthy, has a steady heartbeat and all in all, looked amazing.
we'll post pictures later on tonight when I get to a scanner.

It's OFFICIAL
Ian and I are going to be Dad and Mom :)
Peanut McMichael (in lieu of a name or a gender at this point) will be joining us at home in early October (the 11th as of my first appointment).
We're super-excited about it. I'm going through all of the normal changes (gaining weight, getting sick, revisiting my 13 year old face (yes, I'm referring to breaking out again!), and generally having moments of, oh my God, i'm going to be a parent.
We're starting this blog so that we have a place for our families and friends to check in on us through the whole baby process.
HOORAY!
